Five Moments That Always Happen on Our Padel Trips

Some trips are remembered for the hotel, a beautiful beach or a good meal. And then there are trips that are remembered for moments.

An impossible point. A laugh in the middle of a match. A correction from the coach that finally makes you understand why that ball always went into the glass. A meal after playing. A conversation on the club terrace. A phrase from the group that gets repeated all weekend.

That is what I love most about padel trips in Mallorca: they start with a racket in your hand, but end up creating memories that go far beyond the court.

At Grip and Trip, we want every trip to include sport, yes, but also experiences, calm, good company and that very special way of experiencing Mallorca from the inside.

And although every group is different, there are five moments that almost always happen.

1. The First “What Level Are You?”

Every padel trip begins with a little investigation. Before playing the match with local players, the classic question always appears:

“What level are you?”

And that is where the dance begins.

One person says they play “more or less okay”, but then it turns out they have a very serious bandeja. Another says they are just starting out, but runs for every ball as if their life depended on it. And there is always someone who insists they are only there to have fun, until the match starts and they transform.

Padel has that magic.

In just a few minutes, people who do not know each other start talking about levels, positions, playing sides, old injuries, past tournaments and preventive excuses in case the match does not go as expected. That first conversation already breaks the ice, because padel is social before it even begins.

2. The Moment When the Coach Changes the Way You See the Game

On our padel trips in Mallorca, there are not only matches. There are also training sessions with professional coaches, because we believe that to enjoy padel more, you also need to understand it better.

And there is always a moment when the coach says something that seems simple, but changes the way you see the game. It might be a correction in your positioning. An explanation of how to read the glass. A tip about not moving up to the net at the wrong moment. Or that phrase that hurts a little, but you know is true:

“You don’t need to hit it that hard.”

It has happened to me many times.

You think the problem is that you are not reaching the ball, but in reality you were badly positioned before the shot even happened. You think you need more power, but what you really need is more calm. You think you are missing because your opponent is very good, but maybe you are simply choosing the most difficult option every time.

A good coach does not only correct shots. They help you understand padel. And when that happens during a trip, you take home more than just matches played. You take home real improvement.

3. The Point the Whole Group Will Remember

On every trip, there is always one point that becomes legendary.

It does not have to be the best point technically. Sometimes it is an impossible defence, a ball that touches three glass walls and comes back in a way nobody can explain, a smash someone celebrates too early or a volley that looked easy and ended up in the net.

But that point stays.

It is talked about on court, repeated on the terrace, brought up again during lunch and probably exaggerated a little more every time someone tells the story.

Padel has a lot of that: small moments that the group turns into stories. And perhaps that is why it is so addictive. Because you do not always remember the exact score, but you do remember how much you laughed.

4. The Terrace After the Match

For me, one of the best moments in padel happens when the match is already over.

The balls have been collected, the racket is back in the bag and your heart rate starts to come down. Then comes the club terrace. And there, the score matters much less.

The jokes begin, along with the comments, the little excuses and the promises of a rematch. People talk about the ball that “was definitely in”, the serve that had no chance of going over and that teammate who shouted “mine” far too late.

In Mallorca, the terrace is part of the experience. Because here, sport is lived very much outdoors. The climate helps, the conversation flows and after playing, you always feel like staying a little longer.

Sometimes, that “let’s just have a quick drink” ends up becoming the most beautiful moment of the day.

5. When Padel Becomes the Excuse to Discover Mallorca

This is the moment that best represents Grip and Trip, because a padel trip in Mallorca does not end on the court.

It can continue with a walk through Palma, a meal with local flavour, a visit to the Caves of Génova, an afternoon in Santa Catalina, a swim in a cove or simply a conversation by the sea.

Padel is the starting point. Mallorca does the rest.

That is what we want to create on our trips: experiences where you can train, play, improve and compete, but also discover the island from a local perspective.

Because you may come to Mallorca for the padel, but very often you come back for everything that happened around it.

For the people you met.

For the laughter after the match.

For that corner you did not expect.

For the shared meal.

For the feeling of having lived something authentic.

In the end, a padel trip is not measured only in matches won or lost. It is measured in moments.

And if, when you return home, you remember a point, a phrase, a terrace, a cove or a new friendship, then the trip was worth it.

That is Grip and Trip. Padel, Mallorca and moments that stay with you long after the last point.
